Bridge Series worship space

This summer's "bridge" series on relationships was really great, and one of the coolest things about it was the elements incorporated into the worship space: a bridge as the center icon, banners, the cross, and the side displays with symbols of our faith.  Thanks to the creative team for such a great job.  Especially to Thomas Fowler for building the bridge!

"Center" Crosses and "(multi)color" Banners

Vine's incredible artists have been busy providing beautiful and creative visual art to enhance Vine's multi-sensory worship experiences.  The crosses were painted during two worship gatherings during Lent - each from a personal perspective.  The banners were a group project, and are the focal points of the message series on Joseph.  The five words on the banners coincide with the main theme of each message in the series.  If you would like to be a part of the 'palette' worship arts team as a visual artist, computer graphic designer, or video producer contact HL McConnell at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. 2009 Discernment Team Retreat Pics

Seven Vine-ians gathered with Pastor Mike and Pastor Craig June 12-13 to seek together the Spirit's leading for Vine, and two-year goals and objectives for Vine's outreach and community life.  The theme coming out of the weekend was "inwardly strong to be outward focused", and God provided incredible unity of vision for all participants.  The team will share their sense of God's leading for Vine at an "All-Hands" gathering of key Vine and FPC staff, volunteers and leaders on July 2 at 7 p.m. at FPC.  Retreat participants were Krysta Bustin, Kenny Ellis, Paul Irwin, Jess Kostella, Chris McCarthur, and Erick & Heidi Sawyer.  Thanks to the Vine family who let us use their incredible beach house for the retreat.  Pastor Craig is pictured with omelettes in a bag - our breakfast on Saturday!

Scenes from OJP Field Day

Last Saturday, Oscar J Pope School had a field day event to connect students, parents and teachers in a fun setting.  Vine contributed volunteers, food items and funds for renting a moonbounce.  Thank YOU for helping make this event a success, and thanks to John Foley and Lori Long for coordinating Vine's efforts.

Scenes from Palette

The second 'Palette' worship gathering at Vine on Feb. 15 combined music, visual art, drama, storytelling, communion and prayer to tell the story of Jesus in four parts: birth, life, cross and resurrection.  A highlight was having six painters create separate canvasses off to the side during the gathering, then at the end of the gathering bring them together in the center to create a massive combined painting of a dove (the symbol of the Holy Spirit).  Thanks to HL McConnell, Ellen Chastain, Jorgeanne Carpenter, Amber Grubb, and many others who contributed to planning this extraordianary worship experience.
